Obituary of Betty Jean Paynter
Betty Jean Paynter, 88, of Lake Ozark, MO, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach.
Betty was born December 25, 1928 to Robert Paul and Martha Elizabeth (Heimer) Johnson.
Betty was married October 6, 1946 to Billy C, Paynter. They shared 51 years of marriage.
Betty is survived by one son, Larry Paynter of Jefferson City and his wife Patti, two daughters, Carolyn Richards and husband Bud of Eldon and Beth Platter and husband David of Lake Ozark. She has one sister, Delores Daniels of Hannibal, 9 grandkids, 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Bobby Paynter; and one daughter, Martha Howard.
Betty attended Hannibal High School. Betty and her husband moved to Lake Ozark in 1971 where they purchased Rainey’s North Shore Resort. She was owner of Granny’s General Store in Lake Ozark. She was a member of Bagnell Baptist Church but currently attended Osage Beach First Assembly of God.
Betty enjoyed family time, camping, going to church, good ol’ Baptist hymns, family dinners, gardening, bird watching, playing cards and most of all spending time with each of her kids, grandkids, great & great-great grandkids.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3 from 5 to 7 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, with service officiated by Pastor Tim Anna.
Visitation will also be held from 1 to 2 pm, Thursday May 11 at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal with burial to follow.
Donations may be made in her name to Lakeside Meadows Senior Center Activities Department.
