Obituary of Sarah June Maxey

Sarah June Maxey, 91, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Payton Place in Blue Springs, Missouri. 

June was born June 15, 1925 in Fenton, Missouri,  the daughter of Earl and Jemina (Koch) Rudder. 

On July 31, 1941 in Kirkwood, Missouri, Sarah was united in marriage to Vincel E. Maxey who preceded her in death.  June and Maxey were married 60 years at the time of his death. 

June is survived by her son Robert Maxey and wife, Carol; great-granddaughter, Amanda Rhoads; great-grandson, Joshua Meyers; two great-great grandchildren, Maxey and McHale.  Also surviving are nephews, John Bowles and wife, Terry, and Ronald Rudder and wife, Lee, along with their children Cindy and, Chris and their families. She also survived by several nieces, nephews, as well great nieces and nephews. June is also survived by her cousin Jane Bing and her family. 

June also leaves behind her second family, Melissa and Elton Rust; along with their daughters, Madison and MacKenzie; Melissa's mother and father Peggy and Gary Vlasis; Melissa's brother, Chris and his wife, Tiffany and their three sons, Tristan, Gunner and Collin. 

Aside from her husband Maxey, June was preceded in death by her brother, Elwood Rudder;  her sisters Alice Alt and Dorothy Litzsinger; her brother-in-law Earl Litzsinger; her grandson Scott Maxey and granddaughter Paula Maxey. 

June and Maxey decided when they were on their honeymoon at Lake of the Ozarks to retire there, which they did in 1973.  Maxey had been a Missouri Highway Patrolman for 34 years and retired as Colonel.   In 1974, June went to work for Dogwood Hills Golf Resort and retired in 2011.  June was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach, Missouri. 

Services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri.
