Obituary of Alden Kent Shields

Alden Kent Shields, 74, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Alden was the son of Lawrence and Elsie (Nelson) Shields, born May 25, 1943 in Lindsborg, Kansas.

On August 8, 1969 in Arlington, Virginia, Alden was united in marriage to Susanne B. Borgman who preceded him in death.   They had shared 46 loving years of marriage together at the time of her death in 2015.

Alden worked as an accountant for HRS Group in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was Budget Director for the State of Missouri, Secretary of Administration for the State of Kansas and was an aid to Governor Kit Bond.  He retired to the lake in 2008 and enjoyed playing cribbage and watching the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs games and KU games.

Alden is survived by two sons; Aaron Shields, of Kansas City, Missouri and  Jesse Shields of Lake Ozark, Missouri; and one brother, Steve Shields and wife, Bette, of Rolla, Missouri.

Aside from his wife, Susanne, Alden was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Elsie Shields.

Services will be held Monday, July 17, 2017 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozark, Missouri.  The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00-11:00 am prior to services at the church.

Interment will be at Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery In Osage Beach.
