Obituary of Daniel J. Metz
Dan J. Metz, age 72, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his home.
Dan was born September 9, 1944 in Marion, Indiana. He was the son of Clyde and Esther (Jernigan) Metz.
He graduated from Purdue University in 1966 with a Bachelor degree in Industrial engineering. On November 18, 1967 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dan was united in marriage to Janice Dwenger. Together they shared over 49 years of marriage at the time of his death.
Dan was a purchasing manager for a glass manufacturer in Illinois for thirty years. Upon retirement, they moved to his favorite vacation spot, Lake of the Ozarks. He loved everything about the Lake, whether it be boating or just enjoying a breathtaking view during the various seasons. He also loved cooking for family and friends and doing any woodworking projects. More than anything, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Dan was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozark and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jan (Dwenger) Metz; his son Brian Metz and wife, Kristin, and their children Annali and Harrison, of Homer, Alaska; his daughters Jennifer Otto and husband, Tony, and their children Adam, Nathan and wife Kelsey, Aaron, Grace, and Rebekah, of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Jodi Metz and son Elijah of Bloomington, Illinois; his brother William Metz and wife, Sharon, of Warsaw, Indiana; his sisters Leslie Palmer and husband, William, of Paulden, Arizona and Loni Thompson of Greenwood, Indiana. Along with his immediate family, he is also survived by two great grandchildren, Atlas and Adelaide, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Esther Metz; and one infant brother, Clyde Jr.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2017 from 4:00- 7:00 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Ozark, Missouri.
Services will be Saturday, August 12 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.
