Obituary of Bonita J. Barnes

Bonita J. Barnes, 87, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at her home in Osage Beach.

Bonita was born September 26, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri.  She was the daughter of Ernest and Opal (Parmlee) Townsend.

On July 25, 1950 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bonita was united in marriage to Edward Barnes. They had shared 67 years together at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Edward of the home; her son Mark Barnes and wife, Melinda DuBay of Carter Lake, Iowa; her daughter Cathy Barnes and wife Mary Fisher of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Jeff Barnes (Shelli) and Tim Barnes (Melissa) and four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Allison, Abbi, and Eddie.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Opal Townsend and one brother, Donald Townsend.

Bonita was a loving and devoted wife and helpmate to her husband, and a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children and their families. Bonita enjoyed life to the fullest and among her many interests were reading, ice skating, tennis, water skiing, fishing and playing piano.  She was a wonderful homemaker who helped create beautiful memories for her family to cherish.
