Obituary of Dennis Ray Murrow

Dennis (Denny) Ray Murrow, 69, passed away suddenly, November 22, 2017 at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri after dealing with several health issues during the year.

He was born in Des Moines, Iowa on November 11, 1948 to Dorothy Mae and Thomas Elmer Murrow, living in Mitchellville, Iowa. Following high school graduation, he served in the National Guard at Camp Dodge in Des Moines, Iowa, then attended Barber College and was a barber for several years.

Denny married Marcia German Adams on September 13, 1986 at Staves United Methodist Church in Des Moines, Iowa.  They were married for 31 years. 

Denny was employed by Polk County Health Department in Des Moines, Iowa as an Environmental Health Specialist/Inspector.  In 2012 Denny and Marcia moved to Osage Beach, Missouri to enjoy their retirement among friends and relatives at the Lake of the Ozarks.  Denny was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, the Iowa Reunion Club, Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club (Jesters of goodwill dedicated to helping youth in need in the Lake area), Mended Hearts, and was a volunteer at Lake Regional Hospital.  He enjoyed woodworking and built several birdhouses and feeders so he could feed and watch the birds, as well as the turkey and deer in the back yard.  He also made the wooden cross for Harper Chapel which is mounted on the north side of the church.

Denny is survived by his wife, Marcia; his two daughters, Darci (Guillermo) of Marshalltown, Iowa; Andrea Rogers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, three granddaughters, Eva, Anna, and Eloise (Ellie) Hernandez; one grandson, Tavien Rogers; a sister Bev Olson, Des Moines, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Sandy Murrow, Mitchellville, Iowa.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents and his brother David.

A Memorial Service will be held at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church in Osage Beach, Missouri on Thursday, November 30, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jim Day officiating.  His final resting place will be the Mitchellville, Iowa Cemetery.
