Obituary of James Fisher Selby

James Fisher Selby, age 81, of Linn Creek, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage Beach, Missouri.

 

James was born February 1, 1936 in St Louis, Missouri.  He was the son of James and Ethel (Brown) Selby.

 

James entered the United States Navy  August 1, 1954 and was honorably discharged August 3, 1974.

 

On May 11, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri, James was united in marriage to Dorothy Hogan, who preceded him in death January 24, 2012.  They had shared over 52 loving years together at the time of her death.

 

James retired from the automotive industry as a service writer. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing and loved rooting for his St. Louis Cardinals.  More than anything, James loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

 

James was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Lake Ozark, Missouri.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and a caring brother, uncle,  friend and neighbor. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

James is survived by two sons, John Warren Selby of Linn Creek, Missouri and Robert Curtis “Robby” Selby of Linn Creek, Missouri; one daughter, Joanne Marie Selby-Pope of Camdenton, Missouri;   five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; one sister,  Roberta Lane of St. Louis, Missouri; along with several other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Selby and Ethel Selby-Kobush; his wife Dorothy;  and one sister, Shirley Curtis.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday January 2 , 2018 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.   The family will welcome friends for visitation from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

 

Interment will be 11:00 am,  Wednesday, January 3 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery- Ft Leonard Wood,  in Waynesville, Missouri.
