Obituary of Joyce Atteberry Garoutte

Joyce Atteberry Garoutte died peacefully at the Heisenger Bluffs Senior Living Center in Jefferson City, Missouri on February 6, 2018  at the age of 80.

 

Joyce is survived by her sister, Jerry Thompson; her son, Max Gerald Garoutte, MD; her daughter, Lynne Barr and four grandchildren-Bryce Garoutte, Braden Garoutte, Haley Barr and Whitney Barr.  She is preceded in death by her husband Max Wade Garoutte, Lt. Colonel (ret), EdD.

 

Joyce was born on March 13, 1937 in Eldon, Missouri to Ward and Bell Atteberry. She attended Southwestern Missouri State University where she met Max Wade Garoutte whom she married on September 8, 1957.

 

Joyce Garoutte will be cremated and her remains will be scattered at the Lake Memorial Scattering Garden in Osage Beach, Missouri.  There will be no funeral service per her request.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in kind to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
