Kevin Ohlsen

Obituary of Kevin Robert Ohlsen

Kevin Robert Ohlsen, age 45, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 5, 2018.

Kevin was born June 21, 1972 at Kaiser Hospital in Sacramento, California. He was the son of Garry W. and Carrol J. Ohlsen.

Kevin grew up the proud son of a military father and hairdresser mother living in California, Norway and Nebraska. He enjoyed working at the local grocery store in Georgetown, California during his senior year of high school and graduated from Golden Sierra High School in Garden Valley, California in 1991. Kevin joined the military following graduation. He served his country proudly as an F-16 Flight Line Crew Chief in the United States Air Force at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Following his honorable medical discharge, Kevin used his GI Bill to attend Automotive Mechanic School. Adept at using his hands, he advanced to master mechanic status quickly. During his first marriage he lived in Utah, Australia and Illinois and savored the time he spent with his sons Deryck R. Ohlsen, Devin J. Ohlsen and Zackary M. Thomas, whom he shared with his former spouse. He settled in Missouri, then briefly in Kansas, before returning to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri in August 2013. He worked in various mechanic, landscaping and construction jobs throughout the last 20 years.

Kevin enjoyed the outdoors and felt the happiest camping, fishing and mastering the grill. Helping out friends and spending time at home with family were things he truly loved. One of his favorite events was Rockfest music festival in Kansas City where he proposed to his beloved partner, Sara B. Burton.

Kevin is survived by his mother Carrol J. Ohlsen of Fort Mohave, Arizona; his sons, Deryck R. Ohlsen and wife Jessica R. Ohlsen of Goose Creek, South Carolina and Devin J. Ohlsen of Fort Lee, Virginia; his brother Edward Wayne Ohlsen of Lenzburg, Illinois, his sister Kerri D. Ohlsen and husband Sheldon W. I. Cherry of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; his fiancé Sara B. Burton and daughter Mackenzie T. Burton; mother of his children, Erika M. Huckaby and son Zackary M.
