Obituary of Donald Marcus McCollister
Donald Marcus McCollister, age 88, of Lake Ozark, died at home Sunday morning, March 18, 2018. He was born in White Hall, Illinois the son of Marcus and Lora Moulton McCollister.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne (Dunavant) of 46 years. He is also survived by his two children, Mark (Linda) McCollister of Lake George, New York, Mary (Bill) Sauerland of Libertyville, Illinois, and three grandchildren, Patrick (Sarah) Sauerland, Elizabeth Sauerland, and Timothy Sauerland, two step grandchildren David Brown (Gloree) and Debbie (Scott) Kingsley, one sister, Lucy (Walt) Morrison of Palisade, Colorado. His brother, Robert (Peggy) McCollister and his sister, Gladys (John) Cordes preceded him in death.
Don retired from Olin Corporation after 45 years of service as an engineer and in later years as an expert ammunition witness. He spent his time in retirement as an accomplished woodworker. He lived in the Wood River-Alton area for 47 years before retiring to Lake Ozark, Missouri in 1995. He was a member of Elks Lodge #2705, Ozark Jazz Society and 2 poker clubs.
At Don’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. Memorial donations may be made to Dogwood Animal Shelter or Callaway County Historical Society.
