Obituary of Loretta Birdene Cochran

Loretta Birdene Cochran, age 73, of Brumley, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at her home.

Birdene was born on May 17, 1944 in Dixon, Missouri. She was the daughter of Vasca and Edna Humphrey.

On December 21, 1963, she was united in marriage to James David Cochran. Together they had three children, Lorna Plemmons of Brumley, Missouri, Terry Lee Cochran (Laci) of Brumley, Missouri and Lester Cochran(Leslie) of Crocker, Missouri.

Birdene had a love for making quilts, oil painting, and woodworking. She took great pleasure in teaching others these skills. Birdene worked at Iberia Manufacturing off and on between children until 1980. She then went to work for HD Lee, sewing front pockets on Lee Jeans, until the plant closed in April of 1999. Birdene then returned to work at L&B Manufacturing in Iberia and worked until retiring in 2012 during Thanksgiving week. She was a member of the Christian Church for over 60 years. Birdene’s greatest love was her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

She is survived by her children, Lorna Plemmons of Brumley, Missouri, Terry Lee Cochran and wife Laci of Brumley, Missouri, and Lester Cochran and wife Leslie of Crocker, Missouri; her mother Edna Humphrey; sister Vanessa Duchworth; brother Steve Humphrey and wife Tammie; brother in law Gary Plemmons and wife Pat; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

Birdene was preceded in death by her father, Vasca Humphrey, husband James Cochran, sisters Barbara Harrison, Debbie Plemmons and Linda Cheatum, and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at the family home on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at the family place.
