Obituary of Amelia L. "Amy" Dickerson
Amelia L. "Amy" Dickerson, passed away during the early hours of Monday, May 7, 2018, at her home in Camdenton, Missouri. She was an only child, born December 1, 1938, to Dorsey (Lefty) and Grace Lee Cable. Although her eyes closed here on this earth, she opened them to the presence of Jesus and His Kingdom. Her broken body has now been restored for Eternity.
She worked as a nurse for 47 years, serving both Camdenton Medical Center and Dr. Brenda Hettinger. There she worked closely with 3 ladies whom she called dear friends and shared life with. One of her greatest blessings were the group of ladies that she called "forever friends" from Versailles.
Her favorite book in the Bible was Proverbs, and in it she highlights her favorite verse, "The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped." Proverbs 11:25 MSG. In her time here, she blessed people too numerous to mention. But those who were the most impacted were her three children, ten grandchildren, and nine (soon to be ten) great-grandchildren. She rarely missed a ball game, dance recital, choir concert, graduation, or birthday party. Her "tribe", as she affectionately called her family, convened at her house every Sunday after church for lunch. And, fittingly, they were all there for one last lunch before she went home Monday morning.
She has left her children, Curtis and wife Nancy, Kelly, and Keri and husband Darrin, grandchildren Ryan, Ashley, Randi, Channing, Marlee, Kasie, Taylor, Jordan, Faith, and Mya, and her great-grandchildren Emma, Noah, Lexi, Eli, Addison, Rowan, Ainsley, Trenton, Kohen, and Hadlee to carry on her traditions, no matter how small, and to honor her legacy: always be honest, forgive and forget, be kind hearted, keep your promises, work hard, be thankful, never give up, and most important, love one another.
Of all the lessons throughout her life, the most important ones were taught to her family in the days leading to her Homecoming. Sing your unique song, stay present in the moment, and count your blessings. Mom, Grandma, Gran, Fro...we love you MORE!
