Obituary of Dennis James Sheridan
Dennis James Sheridan, age 73, of Lake Ozark, Missouri passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach.
Dennis was born February 15, 1945 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was the son of Edmund and Beatrice (O’Rourke) Sheridan. He was a 1963 graduate of Regina High School in Iowa City, Iowa.
Dennis was united in marriage to Susan (Suzy) Kiesey Haars. They shared nearly 26 wonderful years together at the time of his death. Dennis served his country proudly in the National Guard and following his honorable discharge, he worked for over 34 years at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, serving as service parts manager at the time of his retirement. Dennis enjoyed spending his days outdoors, fishing, playing softball, and golfing. He was famous for his amazing three “holes in one”. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the Iowa Hawkeyes and the St. Louis Cardinals. For over 35 years, Dennis had been known for his part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cedar Rapids. Dennis’ greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Denny was a kind and gentle soul. Being proud of his Irish heritage, those Irish eyes were always smiling.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Suzy; his daughters Kary Daily and husband Calvin from Leander, Texas, and Sommer Sheridan and friend Thad of Cedar Rapids; step-son Christopher Haars and wife Melissa from Cedar Rapids; and step daughter Shannon Bartz and husband George of Ft.Myers, Florida; two grandchildren, Quinlan and Lochlan Daily; and step grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ann Haars, and Izabelle Bartz; his two brothers Michael Sheridan and Shawn Sheridan; his sisters Kathleen Sheridan, Susan Byers and husband Craig, Maureen Colbert and husband Mike and Eileen Matson and husband Mike; and brother-in-law Brad Kiesey and wife Deb of Iowa City, along with many relatives and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on June 4th at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Celebration gathering at the Knights of Columbus, E Ave., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from 4 - 8 p.m.
Memorial donations are suggested to either the Food Pantry or for funds to purchase a bench for the Eldon Country Club.
