Obituary of Michael Roberts

Michael “Mike” Roberts, age 64, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his home.

Mike was born September 30, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of Murray and Evelyn Carol (Knapp) Roberts.

Mike was united in marriage to Kathy Bates Short on May 9, 1993 in Indianola, Iowa. They shared over 25 years of marriage at the time of his death.

Mike worked as a Registered Nurse for three hospitals in Des Moines, and was a Paramedic Specialist on the Ankeny, Iowa Fire Department. After moving to Missouri, he worked for CALO in Lake Ozark and for the Missouri Penitentiary System. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles whenever he had an opportunity. Mike also enjoyed computer games and playing cards with family and friends.

Mike is survived by his wife Kathy Roberts; his stepson Logan Short and wife Jennifer of Waukee, Iowa; his stepdaughter Shelby Reed and husband Josh of West Des Moines, Iowa; his brother David Roberts and wife Deborah of Fort Mill, South Carolina; his sister Laura Wiles and husband Dave of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and two step grandchildren, Draven Short and Lennox Reed; along with numerous other relatives and many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Murray Roberts.

Services will be held at a later date to be determined.
