Robert Feltner

Obituary of Robert Earl Feltner

Robert (Rob) Earl Feltner of Lake Ozark, MO passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in Jefferson City, MO at the age of 70.  Rob was born in Burbank, CA on August 12, 1947.  He was the first of four children born to Virgil and Carolyn Feltner and they moved to St Petersburg, FL in 1962.

Rob grew up enjoying all sports and was a natural.  He excelled as a baseball pitcher holding the high school record for no-hit innings which stood for many years and was an all city and all conference standout.  He thoroughly enjoyed water skiing and was able to ski on just about anything, including his own bare feet. Rob joined the US Army Reserves in October, 1967 and was assigned to a Military Police Unit for the next 6 years.

Rob graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1965 and married Susan (Susie) Inebnit on June 29, 1968.  Their family grew to four with the addition of son Randy and daughter Robin.  In 1978 they visited family in Eldon, Missouri and chose to relocate there in 1980.  Rob and his family quickly and happily adapted to midwest life as he immersed himself in the lake area construction industry.  He was a master draftsman, builder and construction superintendent, working for Ketterlin, Thomas, Johnson, and Duncan Construction Companies. He was also self employed as a partner in DJAA Construction.  Rob supervised the construction of homes, condominiums, commercial buildings and culminated in building 4 of the 5 phases of the Osage Beach Outlet Mall.

Rob often expressed some of his happiest times were spent with his family and was proud of both Randy & Robin’s accomplishments. He enjoyed watching Robin compete in her extensive sporting competitions in high school and college and was her biggest fan and supporter.  Rob was very prideful of Randy’s military career and honored by the fact that they both shared a military interest. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren.

Rob met Karen Zaborac, original owner of American Sun Control and Powder Coating many years ago while each was working on the construction of the First Bank of the Lake in Osage Beach.  After building a business relationship throughout the years, they eventually fell in love and married on February 4, 2017.  After their retirement they traveled extensively, discovering other cultures and customs and always welcomed friends and family to share the adventures.

Rob was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Susie.  He is survived by his wife, Karen Zaborac Feltner,  son Randy Feltner (Kristi), children Trenton, Aubrey, Kyleigh and Kamryn of Peyton, CO., daughter Robin Shorter (Chris) and children Brayden, Jackson, Mason, and Emerson of Springfield, MO, sisters Patricia Bailey (Larry), Eldon, MO, Nanci Hawks (Kevin) of St Petersburg, FL and Peggy Farley (Jimmy Patton) St Pete Beach, FL., and nephews Sean and Travis Hawks of St. Petersburg, Fl.  Rob will be so dearly missed by all who knew him.
