Obituary of Orville Dean Talbott

Orville Dean Talbott, age 84, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his long time residence in Camdenton.

Orville was born March 31, 1934 in Elk Point, South Dakota.  He was the son of Charles Herbert and Leala Mae (Gardner) Talbott.

On March 14, 1953 in Vermillion, South Dakota, Orville was united in marriage to Patricia Anne Haines. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2015. They had shared 62 years of marriage together at the time of her death.

Orville enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 18, 1953 until his retirement from the Air Force in January of 1968 due to disability while serving.  He later continued to serve his country proudly through Civil Service positions for ROTC, as he would proudly state, “I helped make lieutenants.”   With Orville’s retirement from Civil Service, he had served his country proudly for over 30 years.

After retirement Orville enjoyed time well spent.  He enjoyed reading western novels and loved talking with people. Orville loved music, which he began at age 8.   He especially loved playing his guitars, and other stringed instruments and singing for his family and friends. Orville was a proud member of the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans.  He was also a proud member St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Camdenton.

He is survived by his six children; Richard Talbott and wife Bonnie, of Lebanon, Missouri; Timothy Talbott and wife Marcie, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Debra Adams, of Camdenton, Missouri; Cathy Doran and husband Jim, of Sioux City, Iowa; Amy Gude and husband Kelly, of Gilbert, Arizona; and Julie Johns and husband Fate, of Camdenton, Missouri;  one brother, Lewis Talbott and wife Theresa, of Champion, Minnesota; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren;  and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Patricia Talbott; his parents Charles and Leala Talbott; his brothers, Kendall Talbott, and Herbert “Sonny” Talbott; and his sisters, Nellie Mae Herbst and Grace Brewer.

The family will receive friends Monday August 13, 2018 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.

Services will be Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. 

Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Hedges Cemetery in Camdenton.
