Obituary of Charleen L. Peters

Charleen L.  Peters, age 74, of Asbury, NJ, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Urbana, MO, Wednesday, August 15, 2018. She was born in Phillipsburg, NJ. Charleen was raised in Washington and lived in Asbury, NJ for most of her life.  She moved to Urbana, MO in 2004 and retired to Elgin, Texas in 2016.  She was a home health aide for over 40 years.

Charleen was known to have rescued a multitude of animals throughout her lifetime.  Taking in and caring for abandoned animals brought her great joy. She had a special affinity for dogs and horses.  She also loved the outdoors, camping, gardening and attending country music festivals.  In her later years, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in activities such as motorcycle racing and horseback riding.

 She was preceded in death by her father Howell Mutchler and her brother Randy Mutchler.

Charleen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond “Smoke” Peters formerly of Asbury, NJ; her daughter Candy and son in law, Frank Van Middlesworth of Urbana, MO; her son Joe Peters and and his significant other, Arlene Golovko of Asbury, NJ; her son Dave Peters and his wife Kathy of Asbury, NJ and her son Jeff Peters and his wife Meghan of Elgin, TX.  She is also survived by her mother Mary Ellen Mutchler and her sister Mary Margaret Erb of North Carolina, her sister in law Leslie Mutchler of Belvidere, NJ; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private services have been held in Urbana, Missouri.
