Obituary of Dr. Billie Charles King
Dr. Billie Charles “B.C.” King, age 86, passed away August 16, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. He lived his last several months at Rock Island Village Assisted Living Facility in Eldon, Missouri. His family appreciates the wonderful care and love he received during his stay at Rock Island.
B.C. was born on December 16, 1931, in Bemis, Tennessee, the oldest son of Bruce and Era Lee Patterson King of Bemis. On June 17, 1951, he married Mary Jomeda Hudiburg, also of Bemis, and together they had three children.
B.C. was a veteran of the Navy, Air Force, and the Army. He served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps as an oral surgeon for 26 years, attaining the rank of Colonel and earning numerous awards and commendations. Upon his retirement, B. C. joined private dental practice in Osage Beach and ultimately founded King Dental Clinic in Eldon.
Survivors include two brothers, Jack (Janice) King of Buckanon, Tennessee, and Murray (Daisy) King of Bromley, Missouri, his daughter, Katherine Elaine King Gorder and her husband Tim of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and his older son, Dr. Bruce Edward King and his wife Joyce Marberry King of Osage Beach, Missouri, Todd and Tracey Eichler of Camdenton, and Tony and Linda Eichler of Chillicothe, Mary Albers of Lake Ozark. B. C. is also survived by nine grandchildren and their families. Their names are Carolyn (Cox) and Shawn, Katie (Dean) and Jack, Alison (Herron) and Scott, Adriane (Foster) and Simon, Ashley (Luster) and Anthony, Joseph King and Sophia, Stoney (Eichler) and Bobbie, Kyle Eichler, and Mason Eichler. B.C. was blessed to also have many great grandchildren.
Predeceasing B.C. was his elder sister Marie Sisk, his younger son, Richard Earl in 1987 and his wife, Jomeda in 1994. Also, his second wife, Betty Gail Owen King of Ray County, Missouri died in 2017.
B.C. placed his faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, Osage Beach. He truly loved his family and his many friends. B.C. enjoyed all kinds of loud music, playing golf, dancing, gardening, watching TV, grilling and cooking for friends, studying and reading his Bible. He will be sorely missed.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Medical Missions for Christ, International or to his church, Riverview Baptist Church.
Services will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Riverview Baptist Church, Osage Beach, Missouri. Interment will follow at Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.
