Obituary of Carl Walter DeLong
Carl Walter DeLong, age 58, of Macks Creek, Missouri, departed this life on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home in Macks Creek.
Carl was born on November 4, 1959 in Olathe, Kansas. He was the son of James and Mary (Darrah) DeLong. He graduated high school from Liberty High School.
On August 19, 1982 he and Peggy Mann were united in marriage. From this union, Kristan their daughter and Daniel their son was born. They later divorced.
Carl was a mail carrier for the USPS in Kansas City, Missouri for 16 years until he became disabled. He met Cathy in 2005 and the rest is history. They shared a loving relationship up until the time of his death. Carl was a devout Christian and has a strong relationship with God. Carl knew how to forgive. He was all about forgiveness. Carl was an inspiration to everyone who met him. His kindness and big heart were infectious.
He loved classic rock and sports, especially football. Carl loved the Kansas City Chiefs, eve through the frustration just like everyone else. He loved to collect football cards and memorabilia. Carl became a PRO at Madden football. He loved the kids, big and small. Carl also loved his pets, especially Tebow the dog. He loved his family dearly and loved Cathy’s family as his own.
Carl is survived by his loving partner Cathy Michalek of the home; his children Kristan Miller and Daniel DeLong of Independence, Missouri; Jason Michalek and wife Angie of Raymore, Missouri, Jessica Pace and husband Ty of Blue Springs, Missouri, Cassandra Waters of Camdenton, Missouri and Ashlee Michalek and Johnny of Linn Creek, Missouri; his grandchildren Hayden, Drayton, Laelah, Dallas, Payton, Lincoln and Truman; his brothers James P. DeLong and wife Sue of Meriam, Kansas and James L. DeLong of Raytown, Missouri, H. Wayne DeLong of Santa Clarita, California, Thomas E. DeLong of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, and Jay W.L. DeLong, of Independence, Missouri; his sisters Karen Corum of Liberty, Missouri and Theresa O’Neal of Liberty, Missouri; step siblings Carolyn Powers, Tim Leatherwood, Janet Leatherwood, and Diane Leatherwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Mary DeLong, and step mother Billie DeLong.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the Heartland Cremation and Burial Society, 6113 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, Missouri 64133. Interment will follow at Brooking Cemetery, Raytown, Missouri.
