Obituary of Pamela Jean Byrd
Pamela Jean Byrd, age 60, of Stover, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on August 20, 2018, following a courageous battle with Multiple System Atrophy. She was born on July 17, 1958, the eldest child of John and Carol Monroe. After graduating high school, she married and gave birth to two of her three children. She joined the Army in 1982, and after her service she gave birth to the final of her three children. After traveling the country for some time, she and her family finally settled in Washington State, where she remarried and raised her children. During this time, Pam earned a nursing degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Washington State University. She served in the healthcare field in various capacities including nursing homes and in-home care.
After several years, the adventure bug struck, and Pam decided to travel again by way of becoming a long-haul truck driver. It took many years, but she had finally found her passion. It was during this time that she met the man who shared and cultivated her passion for life and adventure. She married Frank Byrd and they set off on many years of continental travel while racking up millions of miles for their company, and were awarded trucking Team of the Year. Pam’s greatest dream came true when she and Frank were able to purchase a large plot of land, and create a home, complete with a wildlife sanctuary. One of Pam’s favorite things to do was walk their land with her husband and view the deer, raccoons, turkeys, and other myriad creatures of God. Pam was deeply committed to her faith in our Almighty Father, and she followed his commandments with every breath she took.
Pam is survived by her husband, Frank Byrd; her mother, Carol Brown (Monroe) of Ohio; her Children, Christina (Robert) Edie of Oregon, Robyn (Erin) DeVries of Wisconsin, and Stephen (Stephanie) Harding of Washington State; her siblings, John (Mary) Monroe of Ohio, and Susan (Paul) Smith of Ohio; and her grandchildren, Kelly, Michael, and Cadence Edie, and Violet Harding; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Monroe.
A celebration of Pam’s life will be held at the Byrd home at 1pm on Saturday, August 25, 2018. All flowers and remembrances can be sent to Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, MO. The Funeral Home can be contacted at 1-573-346-2090, or reached at 1270 S. Business Route 5, Camdenton, MO 65020.
