Obituary of Michael Dean Walker

Michael “Mike” Dean Walker, age 71, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Mike was born on November 7, 1946 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Gayle (Sage) Walker.

On October 13, 1990, Mike was united in marriage to Brenda Stark at Tuscumbia, Missouri. They shared nearly 27 years of marriage together at the time of his death.

Mikes love for his family was far and above the greatest and most important thing in his life. Mike owned and operated Mike’s Hilltop in Tuscumbia, Missouri for 30 years and later Kaiser Country Convenience Store in Kaiser, Missouri.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Mike was an active member of the local Trap Shooting Association as well.  He was known for being a race car fan and he had a love for both Nascar and Drag Racing. Mike enjoyed working on cars of all kinds and raced hobby stock cars in his spare time.  In his younger days, Mike was involved in drag racing and broke records in several locations.  Mike also had a passion for flying and owned his own plane.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Brenda, of the home; his son Jason Walker of Rocky Mount, Missouri and step son Preston Duncan (Misty) of Iberia, Missouri; his daughter Michelle Elder (Matthew) of Waterloo, Iowa and step daughters Tiffany Ash of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Heather Tomson (Jeffrey) of Eugene, Missouri; brother Bob Walker (Cathy) of Mason City, Iowa; sisters Evelyn Block (Gene) of Lancaster, Wisconsin, Betty Koschmeder (Fred) of Riceville, Iowa, Kathy Burrs (Scott) of Britt, Iowa and Nancy Dobbs (Jack) of Kansas City, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gayle Walker.

Services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Rodden Cemetery, Brumley, Missouri.

Memorial donations are suggested to American Cancer Society.
