Obituary of Lawrence G. Carlson
Lawrence (Larry) G. Carlson, age 65, passed away at his home in Osage Beach, Missouri on October 18, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife Linda (Mensch) Carlson and daughters Stephanie and Kimberly, his sister Lois (William) Giannopulos and many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his father Gustav Ragner Carlson and his mother Anna Friedborg Magnason.
Larry was born and raised in Evergreen Park, Illinois. After graduating from high school, he attended Western Illinois University where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science and met his lovely wife of 43 years, Linda. Then working as a security guard at Amoco/BP, he attended Chicago-Kent Illinois Institute of Technology law school at night. He earned his Juris Doctor and continued employment at Amoco/BP moving up the corporate ladder in Real Estate Properties Management. With Amoco/BP, he moved to Denver, Chicago and Houston, finally retiring to his beloved Lake of the Ozarks, Osage Beach, MO. Living at Cape Royale, Larry used his expertise to serve as president of the homeowners’ association for four years. He had a love of fishing and boats. His first boat, an old fishing trawler became known as “The Green Hornet,” then came another boat, “Our Compromise.” His last boat was officially unnamed but was fondly referred to as “B.O.B.” .... Beer on Board. He was always happy cruising on the lake.
Being an avid sports fan, Larry soared with pride when the Cubs won the World Series, and in true Cub fan spirit has been waiting “until next year” ever since. Although he was a fan of all the Chicago teams, any sporting event was worth watching for him. Along with sports, he cared deeply about politics. Keeping up to date with the latest in the political scene, he was always willing to debate the issues.
Larry was a wonderful provider for his family. He was a loving husband and father; always supportive, encouraging and willing to share advice with his daughters Stephanie and Kimberly. Larry Carlson will be missed by family and friends.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Shorty Pants, 1600 Autumn Lane, Osage Beach, Missouri 65065.
