Obituary of Jacklyn Yuvawn Ufheil

Jacklyn Yuvawn Ufheil, age 89, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Lakeside Meadows in Osage Beach.

She was born November 20, 1928 in Johnston City,Illinois, the first born to Oral "Jack" and Millie Johnson.

Jacklyn was affectionately nicknamed "Bonnie" as an infant. As a young girl, Bonnie moved with her family (much to her chagrin as she told it) from the Quad Cities in Illinois to Annawan, Illinois. Much to her chagrin, that is, until she met Calvin Ufheil. Cal and Bonnie were married on November 15, 1949. They chose the date of November 15 after each discovered that coincidentally their respective parents were married on that date. It has become a tradition of sorts in the Ufheil family with two of their children and a grandchild being married on that date.

Bonnie was a homemaker and hairdresser while Cal worked with his father and brothers shelling corn and trucking as William Ufheil and Sons. With the emergence of the harvesting combine replacing the contracted sheller, it became obvious that a new business venture was in order and so Cal and Bonnie worked together to build and run the Sauk Trail Inn, a successful restaurant and lounge in their hometown of Annawan, Illinois. They lived and raised their family there until 1979 when they sold their business and moved to Lake of the Ozarks. They later purchased and ran what was renamed Tonka Hills Restaurant in Linn Creek with their son Martin and daughter-in-law Julie, until 1993 when they sold it. Then they endeavored building and running the Comfort Inn with Marty and Julie in Osage Beach and the EconoLodge-Lake of the Ozarks with daughter Lenore and son-in-law, Don Neuharth. Bonnie loved her family near and far, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and orchestrated many a family gathering that typically revolved around food and family reminiscence. Bonnie was a great cook, could tell a joke flawlessly and evoked a few eye rolls and grins from her kids when she launched into a family story, she loved telling and that they'd heard a million times. Bonnie and Cal particularly loved the fall and enjoyed travelling with each other and with their kids and grandkids. Many family memories were made on trips all over the U.S. with the Smoky Mountains and Florida being amongst their favorites.

Surviving Bonnie are children Martin Ufheil and wife Julie of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, Laurel and husband Chris Marks of Lake Ozark, Missouri and Lenore and husband Don Neuharth ofCamdenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Lucas Ufheil and wife Kathleen , Ryan Ufheil, Zachary Ufheil, Lyle Poss, Maria and husband Jarrett Messenger, Lindsey and husband Brian Gosling and Lee Neuharth and wife Monja; and great-grandchildren, William, Kayli, Ava, Austin and Ellie Ufheil, Jaden, Dillon and Brailyn Collins, Ariana and Logan Messenger, and Calder Gosling.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Cal, her parents Jack and Millie Johnson, her sister Gretchen Goosens and her brother Leon Wayne Johnson who died shortly after birth.
