Obituary of Jason Lynn Harvey

Jason Lynn Harvey, age 44, of Macks Creek, Missouri passed away on January 1, 2019 in Columbia, Missouri.

Jason was born on May 17, 1974 in Town & Country, Missouri. He was the son of Raymond and Stella (Reeves) Harvey.

On October 3, 2016 in Lake Ozark, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Jeanne Redman. They shared over two years of marriage together at the time of his death.

Jason entered the Company E, 735th Support Battalion Division of the Missouri Army National Guard on a Split Option program and completed his Emergency State Flood duty in the St. Louis area. For his efforts, he was nominated by his unit for the Missouri Humanitarian award, which he received. While serving in the 735th, Jason advanced from a PFC to E4 and earned the Missouri Recruiting and Retention award as well as the Missouri State Emergency Duty ribbon.

He completed this basic training at Ft. Dix, New Jersey the summer prior to his 1992 graduation from Wentzville High School. Jason then completed his Advanced Job Qualification Training at Red Stone Arsenal, Alabama.

Jason attended St. Charles Community College and graduated from Kemper Military College.  He received his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served his country in Iraq. In honor of his service, Jason received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star.

Jason was an avid hiker and hiked all over the United States. He successfully completed the Appalachian Trail not once, but twice. Jason was passionate about the outdoors and enjoyed kayaking, gardening and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne, sons Ian Harvey of Tempe, Arizona, Kai Harvey and Wes Harvey of St. Louis, Missouri; step son Vincent Kolkmeyer of Lake Ozark, Missouri; step daughter Kearsin Redman of Macks Creek, Missouri; step son Jonathan Kolkemeyer; brother Bryan Harvey (Carlotta) Springfield, Missouri; sisters DeAnna Zeisset (Andy) of Wentzville, Missouri, Micki Buxton (Clay) of Farmington, Missouri; three grandchildren, Adam Pruitt, Jaycee Pruitt and Colton Kolkmeyer; 14 nieces and nephews, five great nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends.

Service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
