Obituary of Barbara A. Messer

Barbara A. “Barb” Messer, age 77, of Montreal, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Barb was born February 2, 1942 in Camden County.  She was the daughter of Warren H. and Mollie P. (Shipman) Henson.

On July 28, 1961 in Montreal, Missouri, Barb was united in marriage to Phillip Messer who preceded her in death.  They had shared 41 years of marriage together at the time of Phillip’s death.

Barb worked as a dietician for Camdenton Windsor Estates and Osage Beach Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for many years.  She loved raising her chickens and selling their eggs to her neighbors and friends.  She enjoyed cooking and baking, raking leaves in the fall, and talking with friends on the phone. Barb was a member of Buffalo Prairie Baptist Church in Montreal, Missouri.

Barb was a loving and devoted wife, and a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her children and their families.

Barb is survived by her son Rick Messer and wife, Kim, of Montreal, Missouri; her grandchildren, Layna Dugan and husband Joel, Caleb Messer and wife Kendra Carpenter, and Mandy Messer; and her great-grandchildren, Quinn Dugan and Cooper Dugan.  Barb is also survived by her siblings, Melvin Henson of St. Louis, Missouri, Shirley Steward of Richland, Missouri, Millie Shell of Richland, Missouri, Donald and Maxine Henson of Richland, Missouri, Rhonda and Jim Hughes of Richland, Missouri, Claudine and Butch Wilson of Swedeborg, Missouri, and John Henson of Crocker, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents Warren and Mollie Henson; her husband, Phillip Messer; her daughter Phyllis Messer and her brother William Henson.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 12:00-2:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.

Graveside services will follow at Montreal Cemetery in Montreal, Missouri.
