Obituary of Doris Mary Nelson Thornton DeSantis

Doris Mary Nelson Thornton DeSantis was born October 9, 1922 to William R. Nelson and Mildred Brunner Nelson in Memphis, Tennessee. She passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 in Gravois Mills, Missouri at the age of 96.

Doris graduated from South Side High School in 1940. She was a buyer and retired from City Products Corporation in 1980. Doris married Ralph DeSantis in 1970. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, Tennessee. The family expresses their gratitude to Donna Griffith for the care of their mother.

She is survived by son Gerald B.Thornton (Nancy), daughter Vicki K. Sucher (Bob), and Mary Jo Gemas (Jim). Doris has nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney L.Thornton.

Services will be held Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (chapel), 8151 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, Tennessee 38138. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119.
