Obituary of John Robert White

John Robert White, born November 29, 1948 in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Georgia Mae and John White, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2019 in Eldon, Missouri.  John is preceded in death by his father John Riley White and mother, Georgia Mae White; his brothers, Oscar White (wife Erdella) and Harold White; paternal grandparents Oscar and Barbara White; maternal grandparents Frederick and Bertha Waibel; paternal step-grandmother Ary White; his nephew Terry White; and Florence Burnham (Jenny’s mother).

John is survived by his wife Jenny White.   He is also survived by his daughters, Christina Martin, and husband, Joshua Martin, Jessica Cable, and son-in-law, Ben Cable and Anita Davis (foster daughter); his grandchildren, Kristin Cable, Austin Cable, Andrea Hammond and husband, Tanner Hammond, Kaleb Cable, Sara Cable, and Kylie Martin. Also surviving are Paul Burnham (Jenny’s step-father) and Linda Findlay (Jenny’s sister); as well as Norma Jean White (Harold White’s wife) and their children and grandchildren, Samuel and Pamela White, Tammy Stains, and other numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

John received a Bachelor of Music Education and worked at multiple schools after graduating, including Norborne School, Eldorado Springs School, Crocker School, and Stover School until he officially retired in 2008, though he returned to work at Stover School part time until 2015.

Music was his passion; it filled his home with joy. His students adored him. John’s music groups have won over 130 major awards. His music changed the lives of many and there was rarely a day when he was not playing music in his home, while family visited and grandchildren played.

John White will forever be in our hearts and souls and dearly missed each and every moment.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 11:00-1:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Eldon City Cemetery in Eldon, Missouri.

Memorials are suggested to a fund established for grandchildren's education.
