Obituary of Stanley Joe Morris
Stanley Joe “Stan” Morris, age 75 of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Misosuri.
Stan was born to Ethan H. and Pearl L. (Green) Morris on June 4, 1943 at Macks Creek, Missouri. He grew up helping out on the family farm with chores that needed to be done. He got up early, helped milk the cows, came in to eat breakfast, then drove his little sister to the main road to catch the school bus for school.
Stan was saved at the age of 10 years old in a revival at Macks Creek Baptist Church. He grew up in Macks Creek and attended Macks Creek School, where in the 10th grade, he met his future wife, Helen Webster. He graduated from Macks Creek High School in 1961 and attended 1 year of college at SMS.
Stan and Helen were married April 20, 1963 in Camdenton, Missouri. He celebrated 56 years of married life with Helen, full of laughter, practical jokes, summers in the garden, hauling hay and camping. He worked 34 years for Paul Mueller Company as a shear and brake operator, cutting sheet metal out for bulk milk tanks. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on vehicles and sharing his knowledge with others. He taught his kids the value of doing things right the first time, helping others out when needed, always doing your best, and taking care of your family. When Steven was a young boy, Stan volunteered as a den leader for cub scouts and as a leader for Webelos, and later, he worked with Steven overhauling a Ford Mustang when Steven turned 16. Stan and Helen took their family on several memorable vacations, driving to numerous states throughout the US. Stan and Helen were examples to their family of what a true marriage is.
Until his stroke, Stan enjoyed working on family vehicles, babysitting the grandkids, and doing whatever his family needed. He loved the grandkids and the great-grandkids so very much. Stan was a caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family dearly.
Stan is survived by his wife, Helen of the home; his son, Steven Glenn Morris of Springfield, Missouri; his daughter, Diana Kay Simmons, of Springfield, Missouri; his granddaughters Laurita Simmons and Christina & Dean Bell; and his great-grandchildren, Brooke Simmons, Rachel Bell, Leann Bell, Sophia Simmons, Savannah Simmons and Tiara Simmons. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Ray Morris and wife, Linnie, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri and sister, Joyce Kennedy and husband, Joe, of Laquey, Missouri; his sister-in-law Betty Morris of Independence, Missouri; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
