Sandra (Lynch) Cole

Obituary of Sandra Sue (Lynch) Cole

The family of Sandra Sue (Lynch) Cole mourn the loss of their wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Sandy passed away on May 18, 2019,  at her home on the Lake of the Ozarks in Gravois Mills, MO, after a brief battle with cancer.  Sandy was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.

Sandra was born on August 8, 1938 to Florence Lorean Dooley Lynch and Max Lynch in Ottumwa, Ia.  She attended Selma High and was a member of the girls basketball team.  Occasionally, she would play pickup basketball games, where she meet her future husband, Robert Cole.  They were united in marriage in 1955 in Long Beach, Ca, where Robert was stationed in the navy.

Bob and Sandy were both from the southeast Iowa area of Eldon and Selma.  They relocated their family many times but called Knoxville, IA, their home.  Throughout her life, Sandy was involved in many community groups in support of her family’s many activities.  They built many memories with family while camping near Lake Red Rock and places far and wide.  Sandy was a nature enthusiast, especially for her birds, and maintained her Christian faith throughout her life.  College basketball season was her favorite time of the year and she routinely won her family March Madness pool.  She built her life around her family and she had an everlasting love with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sandy was preceded in death by both of her parents, Florence Lorean Dooley Lynch and Max Lynch.  Sandy is survived by her loving husband Bob; daughters Cris (Kevin) Rodgers of Gravois Mills, MO, and Kelly (Randy) Rodgers of Ames, IA; grandchildren Megan Gist, Jordan Rodgers, Matt (Laura) Rodgers and Kyle Rodgers; and great grandchildren Hunter and Jayden Gist.

Private celebration of life will be at a later date.
