Dorothy Brooks

Obituary of Dorothy Marie Brooks

Dorothy “Dot” Marie Brooks, 74 of Camdenton, MO was called home to our Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in her home in Camelot Estates.

She was born in St. Louis to Adrian and Janie (LaRose) Keller and was the youngest of nine children.  Dot was a loving wife to Chester “Brooks” (deceased, 2018) for 55 years, sharing 60 years of love and dedication.  Dot was mother to six children; daughter Tina (Brooks), son Tony (Brooks) and wife Shanta, daughter Gina (Malik), daughter Gayle (Brooks-Diaz), daughter Jadda (Hall) and husband Brandon, son Jason (Brooks) and wife Melissa.   She is grandmother to 20 amazing humans, great grandmother to 18 more, and mother by extension to many!

There are many thoughts that come to mind when we think of our momma.  She was first and foremost forgiving, she may get mad but it would only last a few hours, she had no ability to force it longer than that.  It was very funny!   She was loving, funny, generous, caring, supportive, and emphatic to everyone’s plights.   Our mother loved deeply, passionately, and ferociously.   To be loved by her was to feel the warmth of the sun wrapped around you.

Our mother loved our father, he was like another of her limbs, an extension of her being.  Her children, well we were her everything.   She loved us so completely, so unconditionally and because of that shield that protector that was her love she’s given us the strength to shine that light forward.

Our mother loved music; it was instilled in us we believe in the womb.  She loved dancing, and watching her grandkids choreograph dances, she loved poker nights with her family, bingo with her sisters, loved the tv show SVU, and loved gossiping!  But most importantly she loved life!

Celebration of Life will be held, June 1, 2019, Funeral Service for “Dot” and “Brooks” will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 1874 MO-5, Camdenton, MO.  Visitation from 10:00-11:00 am with Mass following at 11:00 am.
