Obituary of Jack Martin
Jack Martin, age 83, of Roach, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.
Jack was born January 9, 1936 in Homestead, Pennsylvania. On May 6, 1960, in Miami, Florida, Jack was united in marriage to Wilma Berg. They shared over 59 loving years together as husband and wife at the time of his death.
Jack served his country proudly in the United States Air Force and retired from his military career as Master Sergeant. His service in the Air Force brought him great joy, especially experiencing up close and personal the aircraft that he so loved. He enjoyed numerous other job experiences including, proof-reading for the State of California and performing referee and umpire duties for high school level football, basketball and baseball games. He had a passion for reading, a soft spot in his heart for animals, and somewhere along the way, had picked up acting. He enjoyed performing with the Lake Area Performing Arts Guild, the Lebanon Community Theater and the Sunrise Beach Little Theater. For nearly 20 years, Jack and Wilma dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, spreading joy and good cheer around the lake area, including 5 years with Main Street Music Hall. They even surprised fellow passengers on a cruise vacation with an appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Clause. When the weather turned warmer, Jack loved spending time outdoors caring for his beautiful flowers.
Jack was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri, where he served as Eucharist Minister. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and served as past Grand Knight and past District Deputy Knight. Jack loved helping at the church any way he could, including working at the Bingo games.
