Obituary of Henry Edward Belaus Jr.

Henry Edward Belaus Jr. passed away peacefully, in his home, in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri on June 2, 2019 at age 67.

Henry is survived by his mother, Irene Belaus of Boynton Beach, Florida; former wife Kathy Horn and husband Harvey of Cornwall, New York; daughter Heather Adams, husband Jonathan and grandsons Jamison and Julian of Yorktown Heights, New York; and Lauren Gollegly and husband Kyle of Lorain, Ohio.

Henry is also survived by his sister Lucretia Duwel and husband Edward of Williamsburg, Virginia and sons Keith and Kirk Duwel; brother Matthew Belaus and wife Lisa of Dunedin, Florida and sons Timothy and Jonathon Belaus; and brother Gregory Belaus and husband Mark Hatfield of Santa Clara, California.

Henry is preceded in death by his father Henry Edward Belaus Sr. (2012) and his grandparents Louis and Mary Belaus and Vincent and Gabriella Zadrozny.

Henry was born on May 1, 1952 in New York City to Henry and Irene Belaus. He graduated from Regis High School in New York City and studied mechanical engineering at Columbia University. He enjoyed the excitement of living and working in New York City, continuing to commute there for many years from his home in Orange County, New York, where he resided until relocating to the Lake of the Ozarks for his retirement.  Henry was a brilliant man, passionate cook, loving father and devoted son.

To quote the French philosopher Teilhard de Chardin, who was a lifelong inspiration to Henry, “You are not a human being in search of a spiritual experience.  You are a spiritual being immersed in a human experience.”

A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hudson Valley Rehabilitation Center, 260 Vineyard Avenue, Highland, NY 12528.
