Elizabeth Majors

Obituary of Elizabeth Jean Majors

At 9:00 pm on Friday July 12, 2019, Elizabeth J. Majors passed away where she resided at Lake Parke Senior Living in Camdenton, MO.  She was ready to be with her Lord and passed peacefully with her son and loving daughter-in-law by her side.

Born in “Old” Linn Creek, MO October 5, 1928 to Clint and Ina Webb.  Elizabeth was known in her early years as “Betty Jean” and later as “BJ”.  If not looking, she could always tell how long someone had known her by how she was addressed.  She was very proud of her family heritage and long historical standing in the lake area.  Her father Clint Webb was instrumental in founding and developing Camdenton, as well as installing and owning the Camdenton Water Department.  Her mother Ina Webb was one of the founding members of what is now known as the Camden County Library.  Betty Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bridge, bingo, knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed her secretarial and book keeping jobs with Huntco of Springfield IL, the First National Bank of Camdenton and Dickerson Supply Company of Camdenton MO.  She owned and operated several successful local businesses to include:  Trails End (now Hurricane Dolly’s) of Sunrise Beach MO and also the Boar House (now Shrimp Daddy’s) of Sunrise Beach MO.  Betty Jean was blessed with three wonderful husbands over her life:  Guy F. Roofener (24 years) and father of her two children; John W. “Bud” Higginbotham (8 years); and Roger D. Majors (21 years).  She often joked she was married 53 years and it was a joy to take care of all three.  She felt she was placed on this earth to love and care for others. Betty Jean will be missed by all who knew her.

Family was the true joy in her life and she felt very blessed.  Betty Jean’s daughter Cynthia J Otradovec preceded her in death.  Betty Jean is survived by her son Theodore C Roofener and daughter-in-law Mary Kayof Camdenton MO along with son-in-law Mike Otradovec of Camdenton MO.  She was very proud of her loving grand children:  Theodore C Roofener Jr and wife Danielle of Westfield NJ; Christopher G Ragain and wife Christine of Naples FL; Sara E Carlin and husband Chuck of Ft. Myers FL; Joseph M Otradovec of Kansas City MO.  Betty Jean is also survived by her three wonderful great-grand children: Chase Roofener, Drew Roofener and Emma Ragain.  Betty Jean is also survived by her cousin Janice Thomas of Amarillo TX.  She loved Janice as a sister.

Services will be held at Hedges Scott Funeral Home, 1270 South Highway 5, Camdenton MO  (573)346-2090.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday July 20, 2019 from 10:30-11:30 with services to follow.
