Brenda Libby

Obituary of Brenda Lynn Libby

Brenda Lynn Libby, 69, of Camdenton, Missouri, passed away due to natural causes on July 15, 2019.

She was born May 25, 1950 as the 5th child to E.L. Lynn and Rita Jo (Bookhout) Libby.  She had two children, Holly (Hilton) Wagner(husband Robert), and Anedra (Fisher) Selley(husband Josh) and 5 grandchildren, Brodie Ruehter(wife Allicia) and Lexi Ruehter of Blue Springs, Missouri and Bailey Selley, Ethan Selley and Sierra Selley of Lander, Wyoming.

Brenda had a long career in the music business in the Lake area starting at the Ozark Opry when she was just 13 years old, moving on as co-founder of the Country Shindig in 1969 and then playing at places such as the Brass Door and The Safari Lounge at the Lodge of the Four Seasons.  There’s nothing she’d rather do than sing and pick with all the local musicians.

She loved writing about her family history and the history of Camden county more than just about anything.  Her love for Wyoming also came through in her songs, as she was always telling her stories through her music.  She was even lucky enough to have had several of her songs top the country music charts.

In the more recent years she truly enjoyed her time chatting with her friends on Facebook, whether it was as herself or one of her many characters such as “Spot the Pooch” or “Smart Alice”.  Her witty sense of humor seemed to be a bright spot in many people’s day.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri.

Private Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, July 21, 2019.

The family kindly requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
