Obituary of Wilma Wolters Deems

Wilma Wolters Deems entered into heaven on July 18, 2019 at Quail Creek Nursing Facility in Springfield, Missouri surrounded by family and staff.

Wilma was born December 26, 1931 in East Saint Louis, Illinois to Agnes Fischer Wolters and William Wolters. She grew up in Belleville, Illinois and was the youngest of five children. Growing up she was active in Girl Scouts, Cheerleading, and Lifeguarding at community pools.

Her career included varied areas of interest. Wilma worked as a secretary in a coal mine, retail sales, and real estate. She was also involved in many charitable organizations to include volunteer work with Belleville Area Garden Club, Lake Regional Hospital, and Willmore Lodge in addition to being Volunteer of the Year for Lake Ozark Chamber of Commerce.

Later in life she was the hospitality chairperson at The Gardens Senior living center. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She will always be remembered for her outgoing personality and fun-loving spirit. Family was the true joy in her life, and she felt very blessed. Wilma enjoyed sharing in activities with her church family.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Bill Wolters, Lee Wolters, Helen Wolters Karasek, and Roy Wolters, and husband Ralph Deems.

Survivors include her four children Terri Curran (Doug), Steve Schmidt (Debbie Richardson), David Schmidt (Liz) and Nancy Martin Hinds (Russell), and eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Lake Presbyterian Church, Osage Beach, Missouri on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10:00am with an informal reception to follow.

Wilma loved her country and supported a variety of charitable military organizations in her lifetime.
