Linda, I cannot stop thinking about Mike and You and all the special memories you both gave us while members of the restaurant association state board of directors. Mike and You were always so kind and helpful, when we came on the board as new members. We so much admired the restaurant knowledge you shared with us, all your success, and fun concepts you both created, after so many years of going to all the board meetings, and dinners, making such good friends. You were both always such wonderful host. Mike was the funniest and always the happiest guy, always with a joke, and a smile. I will miss that the most! I can hear him now, as I think about each time we met again. When ever we spoke, his joy just to see us made us feel special, l believe that was a very special gift he gave to us, A priceless feeling of his everlasting friendship. I cannot imagine Linda the heartache you are feeling, the loss...Too many years have passed, and all too fast, it was just a few months ago Mike was telling stories of the fun years in the restaurant business, and where the antiques were in the happy fisherman...Hard to believe I am writing this now...To an amazing person, a great restauranteur, a great friend, and forever a special Leader in the industry. Much Love Ron and Marilyn Kramer.

Mike was a good friend and mentor and as Mayor of Osage Beach, Mike helped me as a fledgling commissioner manage the political complexities of the job Without ever suggested an outcome. He just asked me which ways angles I considered and helped me see things from multiple perspectives. Mike kept up with me after I left the lake 20 years ago and we spoke fondly from time to time since then.

Worked for Mike for many years at different restaurants when I was younger. He and his wife Linda were the kind of employers that I set my beliefs by what a good employer should be. It was nothing for them to pitch in even in a suit or heels if they popped in before an evening out. He will be missed in the community! Sending his family Peace, strength and hope.

Linda, Sally and Ben-
I just want you to know that Mike was one of the kindest people I've ever known. I always felt like he really cared about me. Whevever we'd run into eachother I would have this feeling of comfort and safety, like I was talking to my dad. :-)
I didn't realize how much he'd done for the community until I read this page. Wow!
I feel fortunate to have known him and he leaves a wonderful legacy at the lake and in the hearts of so many people!
Big hugs to you all. ❤️

I am so saddened by the news of Mike's passing. I was fortunate enough to be able to have a short, but meaningful, visit with Mike at the annual Osage Alumni Banquet two years ago. He saw me from a distance and immediately came towards me to embrace me with a huge hug and hello! We reminisced about me working for him at the Ole Fishing Hole Restaurant (1971) and the Village Smorgasbord (1972-1976). He asked about my two older sisters, who were in his English class at OHS. We had limited time to visit but we were both so happy to see each other. Mike was more than just an employer to me. I began working for him when I was only 12 years old and went through many transitions with him. He treated me as if I were family. He would come into the Ole Fishing Hole Restaurant early each day just to cook a delicious family style meal for all of the employees. We sat down at the table to eat as a family would. On many of those occasions, we were joined by Harley and Ruthie, his parents who owned the Missouri Aquarium located right behind The Ole Fishing Hole. They would walk over to join us. It was at these dinners that I saw how close Mike was to his parents. I enjoyed hearing all of their stories. Mike loved nautical items even back then. When we were closing The Ole Fishing Hole Restaurant down for the last time, he was packing up all the nautical items. He turned to me and handed me an antique nautical fishing net float, of which I have cherished all of these years. Mike was a good caring person who was friendly to everyone. He liked adventure and was a very hard worker. I send my sincere condolences to Linda, Sally, Michael, and family. May peace be with each of you and may Mike rest in peace.
