Robert Billick

Obituary of Robert C. Billick

Robert C. “Bob” Billick, 75, of Montreal, MO died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 with his family by his side at Lake Regional Health Systems after a hard-fought and courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was born on July 21, 1944 at Fort Des Moines, Iowa to Joseph Charles and Alberta Marie Billick.  Bob’s father was killed in the Korean war.  His mother remarried and eventually the family moved to Zearing, Iowa.

Bob learned about barbering as a young man from his step-Grandpa John and knew from then on he wanted to become a barber.  He was an excellent, highly skilled barber.  Early in his career, he and his business partner were pioneers of men’s hairstyling, opening the first men’s hairstyling shop in Central Illinois.  He later became a barber instructor, sharing his knowledge with would-be barbers.  After moving to Missouri, he was a barber at Butt’s Barber Shop in Camdenton, Missouri.

Bob, along with six other men, founded the junior football league program (JFL) in Decatur, Illinois, writing the constitution for the league.  He also loved coaching the kids in the JFL.

Bob took great pride in his home in Missouri, which he designed and helped build, and he could fix anything.  He also enjoyed golfing, playing chess, shooting pool and was always ready for a conversation with anyone about anything.

Bob and his wife Cheryl were high school sweethearts and shared 54 years of marriage at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl, one child, Keri Goble Billick (Amy), one sister JoDee Bardell, in-laws and other relatives and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, step-father, mother and two sisters.

Bob always said Jesus was in his heart; now he is in the arms of Jesus.

According to Bob’s wishes his body will be cremated.
