Obituary of Dennis Ray Butts

Dennis Ray Butts, age 80, of Lake Ozark, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Arrowhead Senior Living in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Dennis was born October 29, 1939 in East St. Louis, Illinois.  He was the son of George Ray and Dorothy (White) Butts.

On February 11, 1995, in Osage Beach, Missouri, he was married to Joyce Mondy and together they shared 24 years as husband and wife.

Dennis was a life-long educator and guidance counselor at Belleville West High School in Belleville, Illinois for 28 years.  He was an avid fisherman and sports fan and was especially fond of the St. Louis Cardinals, Mizzou Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs.   Dennis loved visiting friends over dinner and spending winter months in Florida.   Dennis was a loving husband and father and a caring friend and neighbor to those who knew and loved him.

Dennis is survived by his wife Joyce of Lake Ozark, Missouri; his children Michael Butts and wife, Kimberly of St. Charles, Missouri, and Deborah Butts of St. Louis, Missouri; and his stepson Eric Watkins and wife, Shannon, of Columbia, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Butts.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri.  The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to Faithbridge Church, Osage Beach, Missouri.
