Dr. M. Renee' Damron

Obituary of Dr. M. Renee' Damron

On Sunday afternoon, 11/17/19A Renee' lost her battle with Muscular Dystrophy, IBM, at the age of 76 and rejoined her parents Anthony & Rosalie D'Amico in God's Great Kingdom in Heaven.

She was born in St. Louis to Sicilian parents who had immigrated to this great country for a better life as children. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy for Girls High School and went on to be a GS3 Secretary with the Army. There she met Army Capt. Herbert C. Damron. They fell in love, married and had 3 children.

Renee' then began her collegiate path at Herb's encouragement. First at night school for her Bachelor's degree, followed by her Master's Degree and finally her Doctoral Degree in Higher Education. She graduated with Suma Cum Laude honors January 1987, alongside her daughter Lisa receiving her BSA at the same commencement.

At the time of her graduation, she was a long tenured University of Missouri staff member having been promoted many times and is now the Assistant Chancellor to Arnold Grobman. Renee' then left the University after Mr. Grobman's retirement in 1988 to begin her next chapter as Director of Congresses and Conferences for the American Optometric Association.

She then joined Herb in early retirement in 1992 so that they could amp up their world travel adventures. They have traveled to almost every continent, only missing Africa and Antarctica due to the ravages of her MD condition. They stopped traveling in 2017, after 100 cruises and many additional land journeys to foreign lands. Their adventures included sailing the QEII, riding the Orient Express as well as riding camels in the desert of the UAE to bargaining for carpets in the back alleys in India to cruising to Russia, S China Sea countries and extended land journey to see all of Turkey as well as wintering in their favorite Mexican resorts.

Renee' & Herb moved to Linn Creek in June 1998 and she was very active in the Newcomers/Longtimers Ladies Assn, the March of Dimes Signature Chefs and being an Ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce. Renee' loved Lake Life with Herb and their feline sons. She loved to cook and entertain throughout her life in St. Louis & the Lake, entertaining with huge Christmas open houses and dinner parties as often as possible. She was a fantastic chef.

She is survived by her husband, Herb and their three children. Daughter Lisa M. Lyons (Edward A. Lyons, STL), Sons Christopher H. Damron (Stacey L. Damron, Naples, FL) and Douglas M. Damron (Susan E. Damron, Linn Creek) and their 3 feline boys, Hawk, Harley & Little Boy.
