Obituary of Anthony Ornan "Tony" Brooks

Anthony Ornan “Tony” Brooks, age 58, of Roach, Missouri, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Macks Creek, Missouri. Tony was born January 26, 1961 in Jerseyville, Illinois, the son of Delbert Brooks and Shirlie Dixon. On October 16, 2005 in Aztec, New Mexico, Tony was united in marriage to Sheri Heath. They shared 14 years together as husband and wife at the time of his passing. Tony was a man of dynamic personality. First and foremost he loved God. He was an old soul and a true cowboy at heart. He was a gifted blacksmith and he loved living a life that reflected that passion. He wrote amazing cowboy poetry and was an auctioneer who especially loved doing benefit auctions to raise money for causes he cared deeply about. Tony also had a deep love for horses, especially draft horse teams. He was active in the AA community and just celebrated his 29th year of sobriety. He loved his family deeply and would say that they were his greatest pride and joy in life. Tony was a loving husband and father and a great brother, friend and neighbor to all who knew and loved him. Tony is survived by his wife, Sheri, of the home; his sons, Tyrell Brooks of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Wyatt Brooks of Roach, Missouri and Zane Brooks of Roach, Missouri; his daughter Daysha Brooks of Roach, Missouri; his brothers, Steve Brooks of Buffalo, Missouri, David Brooks, of Kaiser, Missouri, Douglas Brooks and wife, Barbara, of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Jeff Brooks and his significant other, Sharon Woods, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his sisters, Katherine Abernathy of Bloomfield, New Mexico and Alicia Morris and husband, Delbert, of Resaca, Georgia; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert Brooks and Shirlie Phillips. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 22, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Macks Creek, Macks Creek, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to the family.
