Obituary of Virginia Nelson

Virginia Nelson, age 94, of Osage Beach, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Lakeside Meadows Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Osage Beach. Virginia was born May 5, 1925 in Macomb, Illinois to Oral and Zula (Bowen) Clanin. On August 27, 1964, Virginia was united in marriage to John Nelson, who preceded her in death. Virginia worked on factory assembly lines for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, latch hooking and watching professional bull riding on television. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and loved watching the games. Virginia is survived by her daughter-in-law, Connie Hawkins of Osage Beach, Missouri; her grandchildren, Deidre Curley of Osage Beach, Missouri, and Russ Hawkins and wife Maria of Wentzville, Missouri; and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Julia, Joshua, Elizabeth, Rebekah, Mary Grace, and Matthew. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Oral and Zula Clanin; her husband, John Nelson; and son, Norman Hawkins. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Lakeside Meadows Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center or Dogwood Animal Shelter. Arrangements have been placed under the care of Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Missouri.
