Obituary of Larry Leroy Williams

Larry Leroy Williams, age 82, of Osage Beach, Missouri went to the Lord’s Kingdom on Thursday, January 23, 2020 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Larry was born May 1, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Leroy and Frieda (Granger) Williams. On July 15, 1961 Larry was united in marriage to Rose McNally in St. Louis, Missouri. They shared 57 years together as husband and wife at the time of his passing. Larry served as a distinguished officer of the St. Louis City and County Police Departments and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Larry was very proud of his service to his country and his community during his lifetime. He was even granted the honor of serving on the security detail of the Atlanta Olympics, which is one of many pinnacles of his distinguished career in law enforcement. Larry was an avid storyteller and always made others feel important and comfortable in his presence. Larry was loved by many friends and family and will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rose Marie (nee McNally) Williams; his three children, Ellen Ann Williams, Jane Marie Williams, and Edward Joseph (Kristin) Williams; and his siblings Donna (nee Williams) Ronald, and Robert (Debbie) Carmack. Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Frieda (Granger) Williams. Visitation will on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, Missouri from 1-3pm including a brief service from 2:30-3pm. A celebration of life will follow at the Elks Lodge located at 5161 Osage Beach Parkway, Osage Beach, Missouri 65065 from 3-6pm. Private inurnment will be held at Jefferson Barracks in St, Louis at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to Backstoppers, is greatly appreciated in honor of Larry’s career and service with the St. Louis Police Departments. Donations may be sent to 10411 Clayton Rd, St Louis, Missouri 63131 or to the funeral home. The BackStoppers was founded in 1959 to support the families of the fallen police officers, firefighters and EMTs in the St. Louis area killed in the line of duty. After a loss of life, The BackStoppers provides money for emergency expenses and later arrange to pay off all debt, including mortgages.
