Obituary of Thomas Leroy Alexander

Thomas Leroy Alexander (Leroy) was born to Ala Enola Franklin Alexander and Thomas Roy Alexander on June 16, 1932 in Memphis, Tennessee. Leroy became a citizen of Heaven on Friday, January 24, 2020 in Osage Beach, Missouri. Leroy is survived by the love of his life, Shirley. They were married for 63 years. Leroy is survived by his children Karen, Tammy, and Thomas, as wells as two grandchildren David and Keely. He was preceded in death by Tammy’s husband, Keith, who he spent many years learning and growing with. He was also preceded in death by his two older sisters, Aileen and Juanita many years prior. He also had a deep love for Larry; his nephew, Benton Jr.; three great-grandchildren, and all who came across his path in life. Leroy was raised in the Southern Christian Children’s Home in Morrilton, Arkansas. He loved to preach the gospel, beginning at the age of 12 and never stopping. He took great pride and pleasure in cultivating young minds, spending his life as an instructor and principal. Always following his own path, leaving immense footprints. Leroy was a champion of the disadvantaged. Leroy had a strong sense of fairness and decency. When he was roped into judging a small-town talent/beauty contest at a fair, Shirley happened to be a contestant. Having actively dated her for 6 months or so and knowing he was biased in her favor, Leroy cast his vote for the other candidate. Afterward he told Shirley, “You probably would have won if I weren’t a judge”. This statement was a reflection for how Leroy approached life decisions significant and insignificant. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Christ in Camdenton Missouri on Wednesday, January 29th, 2020 at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Montreal Cemetery Montreal, Missouri. Leroy was a friend to all so all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Southern Christian Home in Morrilton, Arkansas. Donations can be made on the Southern Christian Home website (www.schome.org).
