Obituary of Mary Ann Bergeson

Mary Ann Bergeson (Shackelford), 74, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born in Patterson, New Jersey to the late James Shackelford and Carolyn Meisenhelder on March 28, 1945. She grew up in Prophestown, Illinois where she married and raised 2 daughters. The family then relocated to Missouri where she managed A&J hotel until she retired in 1997 and resided in Sunrise Beach. She enjoyed being with family and loved playing bingo with the gals. Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Annette (Burkhart) of Sunrise Beach and Lisa Bergeson of Columbia, Missouri; along with three grandchildren James Emery, Melanie Emery and Amanda (Teeters) Emery; six great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Nicholson and multiple nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lowell (Jim) Bergeson and son, Jeffery Allen Bergeson along with siblings Jim Shackelford and Beverly Estell. Memorial service will be held at a later date. She will be interred with her late husband at Missouri Veterans Cemetery Fort Leonard Wood, date to be determined.
