David Sherrill

Obituary of David Ryan Sherrill

David Ryan Sherrill, age 33, passed away Monday, April 13, 2020 in St. Louis. Missouri. David was born August 5, 1986 and was raised in the St. Louis area. His love for music led him to earn a degree as a Certified Audio Engineer. He worked for Main Street Music hall in Osage Beach, Missouri before moving to Kansas City. It was in Kansas City that he found his true passion in life; his desire to lead, coach, believe in and help people both at work and outside of work. As District Manager for Rally House, he successfully led teams through the Chiefs Super Bowl, Royals World Series, and many KU events. When asked to transfer to St. Louis he jumped at the chance to go to the place he grew up and called home, and of course home to his beloved Cardinals and Blues. Outside of work, David loved golf and introduced many newcomers to the game. With patient instructions of “keep your head down and slow down that swing”, he enjoyed watching them grow. He was a life coach to many and enjoyed the role immensely. David will be remembered for a smile that was infectious, energy that was contagious, a kind heart, strong hugs and love for family and friends. He would want us all to live every single day to its fullest and take our coaching, leadership, or whatever talents we possess and pay it forward. He certainly lit the world on fire and will be missed by many. David is survived by his parents Michael and Mary Sherrill of Camdenton, Missouri; brother Andrew Sherrill of Maplewood, Missouri; sister Lisa (husband Cooper) VanValkenburgh of Parkville, Missouri; and brother Patrick Benson (wife Mindy) of Parkville, Missouri; grandmothers Joyce Edwards of Naples, Florida, and Carol Parkin of Fairfield, Iowa; loving former wife Tabitha Urban of Kansas City, Missouri; niece Elaina Rojas and nephews Roman Rojas, Christopher Benson and Logan Benson as well as many loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may made to two of David’s favorite charities: War Horses for Veterans, PO Box 363, Stilwell, Kansas 66085 (Online donations: whfv.org) or KC Pet Project, 7077 Elmwood AVE, Kansas City, Missouri 64132 (Online donations: kcpetproject.org)
