Angela Burns-Cortez

Obituary of Angela Sue Burns-Cortez

Angela Sue Burns-Cortez, daughter of George and Ruby Burns, was born January 10, 1964 in Moline Illinois. She departed this life on April 29, 2020 at home. Angie graduated from Lebanon High School in 1982 and attended college at Missouri State University. She was united in marriage to Willie Cortez on January 10, 1992. She was preceded in death by her father George Burns, and grandparents. She is survived by her husband Willie Cortez of the Philippines; mother, Ruby Burns of Decaturville, Missouri; her sister, Sandra Wilson, of Houston, Texas; her niece, Maquel Wilson of Camdenton, Missouri; nephew, Brandon Wilson and wife, Sarah, of Lebanon, Missouri; and her very special aunt and uncle, Peggy Arnold and husband David, of Lebanon, Missouri; and a host of other close relatives and many friends. Angie was an amazing woman in every way, always putting others above herself. She was an avid gardener who loved to work outside in her yard and on landscaping projects, no matter how big the job. Another amazing thing about Angie was that she always lived in the moment and did not stress about life. She had a calm and gentle spirit that always displayed the love of Christ in every situation. Angie was a skilled photographer who took thousands of pictures of the people she loved, and the natural beauty of her surroundings. Angie loved the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind. She had the spirit of an angel, so the name “Angela” fit her perfectly. Angie was precocious, and an old soul even as a young child. She preferred playing cards with her uncles David and Johnny, to chatting with the girls. She could also shop with the best of them and often did with her mother Ruby. She loved making trips to Dillard's and finding the perfect Ralph Lauren Polo. Angie will be missed so much by her family that loved her so much. She had a heart of gold and her heart touched our hearts in so many ways. We will always remember our sweet “Angela”. Praise God for the time we had with her in this earthly life. One glad day we will see her face-to-face with the light of our Savior, Jesus Christ, to light our paths.
