Obituary of David O. Spires

David O. Spires, age 72, of Osage Beach, Missouri passed away Friday, June 12, 2020 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. David was born July 19, 1947 in Sterling, Illinois to Olen and Ethel (Elam) Spires. David was united in marriage to Delores Tierney on June 21, 1970 in Sterling, Illinois. They shared 49 years of love and laughter until his passing. David served his country proudly for 25 years in the United States Navy. He worked on airplanes and helicopters in the Navy. In his free time, he loved to study the native American history, work on model plains, and go fishing and hunting. His most cherished time was spending time with the ones he loved. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Those who loved and knew him will treasure the memories, and he will be deeply missed. David is survived by his wife Delores Spires of the home; his daughters Dena Lea Spires Dittman and husband James of Osage Beach, Missouri, and Sonya Lynn Spires Simpson and husband George of Mexico, Missouri; one grandson Jacob Sebren and wife Kristyn of Laurie, Missouri; sister Evelyn Wessels and husband John of Dixon, Illinois; other relatives and many friends. David was preceded in death by his parents Olen and Ethel Spires and sister Jean Snyder. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Community Christian Church in Camdenton, Missouri. The family will welcome friends for a visitation at the church from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to services. Interment will be held at Lake Memorial Gardens in Osage Beach, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to the family.
