Obituary of Beverly Lucinda Hight

Beverly Lucinda “Cindy” Hight, age 89, died on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at her home in Macks Creek, Missouri, surrounded by family. Beverly was born September 7, 1930, in Brown Station, Missouri, to Aleph Goff and Mildred (McCauley) Pierce, the second of 7 children. During her childhood, which she often described as happy, she gained a deep love for country life. A favorite memory was teaching at a one-room country school when she was 16. After graduating high school at the top of her class, Cindy attended Christian College (now Columbia College) in Columbia, Missouri, with a major in Art. Following graduation, she attended the prestigious Kansas City Art Institute, on scholarship, after which she accepted a position at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, designing greeting cards, having turned down an offer to work for Disney Studios in California. In 1951, Cindy married Dr. Samuel B. Ganz of Kansas City, Missouri, and in 1953 they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where Sam established a busy medical practice, and where they raised their 8 children. In 1980, Cindy returned to Missouri where she met and married Roy Dean Hight. Their life together was busy and productive, with their proudest achievement the creation of the Missouri Country Music Hall of Fame. Cindy is survived by her siblings Norman (June) Pierce, Ruth (David) Strodtman, Dana (William) Devine, and Beth Robertson; by her children Mary Ganz (Robert Schoen), Marti (Cliff) Couch, Marcia (Rick) Kuper, Michelle (Dixon) McKinzie, Miriam Litterer (Don Cardwell), Samuel (Olga) Ganz, Jeanne (Bill) Kee and Judi Ganz (Leo O’Brien); by 23 grandchildren; and by 18+ great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her great love, Dean, by her parents, and by siblings Greg “Sonny” Pierce and Jane Zepeda. Cindy was a gifted artist, was musically talented, and she sang beautifully. She was known for her kindness and for her sense of humor. She was an avid reader, was fascinated by politics, and loved history. As such, she was always great fun to talk with. She loved, and was dearly loved, by her family and by many she considered family, and she will be greatly missed. There will be a private Mass for family on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. A Memorial Service is planned for a future date.
