Obituary of Johnny Ray Shaffer

Johnny Ray (John) Shaffer, age 81, of Linn Creek, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri. John was born September 19, 1939 in Elkhart, Indiana, the son of George and Ruth (Beggs) Shaffer. On June 1, 1976, John was united in marriage to Vicki Wehrli in Tuscumbia, Missouri. They shared 44 years of marriage at the time of his passing. For many years John was the owner operator of Shaffer Roofing at Lake of the Ozarks. He was also an avid outdoorsman with a love for gardening, hiking, boating, and fishing. He loved traveling with Vicki in their RV and spent many years exploring Missouri and Arkansas. He was a devoted family man and also a loyal and generous friend who could always be counted on to lend a hand or an ear. The single most important part of John’s life was his love of Jehovah God and his service as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was an elder for many years, serving in many congregations throughout Missouri and Arkansas, often serving small communities and congregations. Most recently he served as an elder at the Camdenton congregation. John is survived by his wife Vicki Shaffer of the home; children Michael Scott Shaffer and wife Dixie of St. James, Missouri, Tammy Wallace and husband Jonathan of Montgomery Creek, California, Jonnie Scobell and husband Peter of Christiana, Delaware, and Leslie Avila of Camdenton, Missouri; 8 grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Scott, Jonnie Nicole, Daniel, Jeffery, Jonanthan Lucas, and James; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents George and Ruth Shaffer; sisters Patti Bateman and Micki Shaffer; and 2 grandchildren John Paul and Chance.
