Obituary of Donald E. Shipp

Donald E. Shipp, age 88, of Ulman, Missouri, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at his farm in Ulman. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lois I. Shipp, his pervious wife of 20 years, Joan Zimmerly, sister Kathleen Tamborino, daughter Donna Foster (husband Charles), son Randolph Shipp (wife Sherie), step-daughter Kathy Mills (husband Tom), grandsons Drew Thomas (fiancé Angela Wimsatt) and Chance Foster, granddaughter Audrey Shipp, great-grandson Max Thomas, and several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and beloved friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Florence Shipp of St. Louis, Missouri, step-daughter Carol Dilly of Cowden, Illinois, and life partner Evely Gore of Lake Ozark, Missouri. Don was born in St. Louis, Missouri October 9, 1932. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1950 and went into the Navy during the Korean War where he was a Merchant Mechanic, E3. After being honorably discharged he met and married Joan Quernheim in St. Louis, Missouri and raised two children together, Donna and Randolph. Don was a Tool and Die Maker with Missouri Heel and Ridley Industries in St. Louis, Missouri for 20 years. Don loved to play his Coronet in his early years, and he enjoyed boating and skiing. Don and his family loved The Lake and purchased property in the 1960’s where they weekended for many years. Don moved to the Lake area in 1976, where he owned and operated several nite clubs and restaurants. He raised registered Brangus cattle on his farm in Ulman and was a member of the National Cattlemen’s Association and the International Brangus Breeders Association. Don was an active member of the Ulman Christian Church for 30 years. He was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. post 6514, of which he was Post Commander for 9 years. Don was an avid motorcyclist for 10 years, riding for many children’s organizations. Recently he was inducted by the Noble Eagles Motorcycle Organization as an honorary member. On July 11, 2020, Don took his last ride with this dedicated group, with his son Randy by his side, while family and friends joined in the celebration. His last year was blessed by having so many dedicated and caring Hospice nurses, family, and friends gathered by his side. Don was a kind and gracious gentleman who lived his life in dedicated service to the Lord Jesus, his family, his friends, his animals, his country, and his community. He was, and always will be, a beloved father, husband, and friend. He will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Hedges-Scott Funeral Home in Osage Beach, Missouri. The family requests that masks be worn, and social distancing be practiced. Inurnment will follow services at the Veterans Wall in Lake Memorial Gardens in Osage Beach, Missouri. Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
